Why is crawling important??
On average babies will start crawling between 6 and 10 months. A traditional crawl is an important developmental milestone for your baby to reach. A traditional crawl involves the baby supporting itself on both hands and knees equally.
THREE reasons why crawling is so important
1. Physical development and strength
While your baby is crawling they are developing the muscles around their shoulders, hips and core. This development will be important for further movement patterns like walking and jumping.
2. Hand-eye coordination
While crawling your baby will be developing their hand eye coordination, which will be essential when writing and catching a ball in the future.
3. Spatial awareness
When your baby initially starts crawling you’ll notice they run into or go through things. They will develop the ability to go around and navigate through their world as their crawling develops. This is important for spatial awareness in the future so they aren’t tripping over everything and running into things.
